Weekly Diary: June 27 - July 3, 2025
![]() |
Friday, June 27 - I reunited with my college aide, Sarah at Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. My caregiver, Nya and my friend, Maria joined us for dinner. We talked about how we have been, humor, and even more. We had a great time and had fun together!
Saturday, June 28 - I attended the Reds game with my caregiver, Whitney and my friend, Maria. The game was a part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Big Red Machine. Before heading out to our section, we parked near the club entry in the parking garage. We noticed that a lot of people were waiting in line to enter the club entrance. Therefore, we ended up waiting in line. It took about 20 - 30 minutes to arrive in our section. We finally arrived in our section which is a club section. Each of us received a complimentary giveaway of the 50th Anniversary Big Red Machine baseball cap. The club offers a free buffet featuring tailgate food, pasta, salad, pizza, pretzels, seasonal food, and ice cream. We noticed that the tables were packed. We were looking for a empty table- we seemed to be unlucky that we couldn't get a table. But, a kind lady asked us to get a table she sat. We finally got a table! We imagine that the game was jammed and crowded! We enjoyed eating great food together. I ate 3 pastas, 2 salads, 3 pretzels and one ice cream cup with caramel sauce at the game. Maria and I sat in our wheelchair accessible seats and watched the Reds play. We stood up and stretched in the middle of the 7th inning. Unfortunately. The Reds lost the game 6-4. We had so much fun together! When I got home from the game, I realized that I only ate some food today. I felt somewhat hungry lol - I ate a banana with peanut butter as a late night snack - yummy!
Sunday, June 29 - I got biscuits and turkey sausage gravy with eggs from First Watch for brunch via DoorDash. I attended my caregiving friend's baby shower at the park. The weather was good but hot. At the baby shower, I won "Mommy or Daddy" game so I received a little clear bag of feminine stuff! I enjoyed the baby shower. I went to Chandler's Burger Bistro for early dinner. They have great burgers and other great food plus watching sports. I have been there many times. It's a great place to eat for burger lovers and sports fans!
Monday, June 30 - Monday is always a pretty boring but enjoyable day for me because I generally enjoy doing what I love on my iPad but sometimes it's boring. I feel like I keep maintaining my positive mindset without any distractions. I had a good start of this week. I did a lot of work and watched entertainment on my iPad.
Tuesday, July 1 - It's the first day of Disability Pride Month which celebrates and recognizes the experiences and achievements of people with disabilities. I posted my DPM post on my social media. I heard via social media that the Senate has passed the Big Beautiful Bill that would cut nearly one trillion from Medicaid. The news broke my heart. π But, I am speaking up... I have Medicaid benefits..... it will not affect me. Medicaid is a federal program that provides healthcare and home-community-based waiver services to people with disabilities. It's not just about preventing disabled people from being institutionalized but also about saving the lives of disabled people. Millions of disabled people rely on Medicaid to live, work, and thrive. Without Medicaid, disabled people would lose access to the services they need. They would lose their freedom. They would be forced to reside in the institution where they are called a burden or cripple. These are misconceptions that they have encountered. Medicaid is very crucial for people with disabilities because they deserve the better healthcare and the better life. It also helps them maintain and grow their independence. I am a disabled person and I can live, work, and travel independently with 24/7 care support. I have constantly advocated for my rights such as remote work and acccessible travel. So I am living my best life! I feel profoundly fortunate and privileged to be able to lead a normal life and have an amazing support system including my parents, family, friends, and caregivers. Let's hope for the freedom and success! π❤️
Wednesday, July 2 - I posted a reel about braiding my hair on my social media. In the reel video, I can't braid my hair independently because of my cerebral palsy. Instead, I am gonna have my caregiver braid my hair. I love braids!
I had crab cakes and shrimp with green beans and side salad and a slice of peanut butter mousse cake from Christine's Casual Dining for dinner via DoorDash - yummy. The mousse cake was really good and it tasted like Reese's.
Braiding My Hair
Thursday, July 3 - I attended Metzcor's 4th of July party. At Metzcor, I stood up 4 times and quickly exercised in the morning. I also listened to Katy Perry's Fireworks music while exercising. We enjoyed eating a burger cookout lunch. Afterwards, we went outside to party and watch the day fireworks (the firework blasted up from the ground). I enjoyed holding a firework wand - how cool! I felt safe doing it. The party was so much fun. ❤️π€π
I enjoyed doing PT. I had a pecanberry salad with chicken from McAlisters for dinner- yummy. I felt pretty heartbroken, sad, and angry to hear that The Big Beautiful Bill has been passed into law. This is a heartbreaking and sad day for disabled Americans! π But, We are NOT alone... We will be OK! We are always advocates for the disability community and we will continue speaking up and making our voices heard.....Never Give Up! Ability NOT DIsability! πͺππ₯Ήπ£️❤️
The past week has been great for me. It was filled with excitement, relaxation, fun, joy, laughter, positivity, and wellbeing but sometimes it was hectic and terrifying. I am grateful for what I did during the past week. ππ₯°
